All funds raised through events, individual donations, and grants go to one of our three core fundraising areas:
Educational Programming
Our staff and faculty are committed to developing new programs that provide unique educational experiences to our dancers. Over the years, new classes and projects have been added to our programming, creating a well-rounded curriculum that includes technical and creative training in all aspects of dance. In the past five years, we have developed new programs with the help of donors and grants such as the Visiting Artists in Composition Program, the Junior and Senior Capstone Project, student participation at the OhioDance Festival, and a re-vamped Creative Kids Company. With your support, FSS will stay on the cutting edge of dance education!
Scholarships and Financial Assistance
We believe that every student – regardless of their financial situation – should have access to affordable dance education. That’s why, in addition to keeping costs low, we offer scholarships and work-study positions that help families with tuition and concert expenses each year. In times of economic hardships, this financial assistance is vitally important. Donating to our Scholarship Fund is one of the most important ways you can help keep dance alive in Athens County.
Facility Maintenance and Updates
We are proud to have a place in the beautiful neighborhood in the East-side of Athens and happy to keep our facilities up-to-date, safe, and secure. With the help of many generous donors and grant awards, our building houses two studios with sprung wood floors, a kitchenette area for dancers, two bathrooms, and lounge for parents. Over the years we have made important additions to the facility including air conditioning to allow for summer classes, energy efficient windows, and new pointe-and-ballet-shoe-friendly marley (vinyl) flooring for our downstairs studio with the support of our donors. Plans for the future include making our facility handicap accessible and expanding our space!
