12/17/12 Have a great winter break!
Although fall semester classes are now over, the studio will be open Dec. 17-20 during regular office hours (3-7pm) to take registration materials for the Winter Semester which starts Jan. 7. The studio will be closed from Dec. 22-Jan. 1 but will be receiving and responding to snail mail and email during that time. We will reopen Jan. 2 with regular office hours. Thanks for a wonderful fall and have a great winter break!

Our Winter Semester starts January 7th and registration is now available! You can fill out your registration forms and send them to the studio or register online via the DanceWorks link: https://app.mydanceworks.net/customer/Login.aspx?parentid=ak600164j
Please note the following changes to the Winter Semester schedule – Tech 2 Modern has been moved to Tuesday from 4-5pm. Tech 2 Tap has been moved to Thursday from 4-5pm. This change was made in part to accommodate instructor schedules. We are sorry for any inconvenience!
Registration and liability forms along with the $10 registration fee are due no later than the first week of classes. Please contact Amanda or Elizabeth with any questions you may have at 594-2302 or director@factorystreetstudio.org. Thanks!
11/21/12 Thanksgiving Break
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving! The studio is closed through the end of the week, with the exception of a make-up class for Movement Fun for 4-5 year olds, which will run on Saturday from 10-1045.
FSS WILL resume regularly scheduled classes on Monday, November 26. Thanks!
11/13/12 WINTER DANCE CELEBRATION tickets are now available for pre-sale!
FSS’s Winter Dance Celebration is coming up Dec. 14th, 7pm, at ARTS/West. Tickets are available for pre-sale at the studio as of today- $8 adults, $6 students 12 and under. (Tickets at the door will be available at $10 adults, $8 students.) Featuring brand new student choreography by CKC and performances by Tech 3 Jazz, Hip Hop 2, and Ballet 5/6, come celebrate dance with us and support your local studio! Art like a localvore!

9/19/2012 Upcoming 35th Anniversary Events This Weekend!
ART Workout with Mary Lachman – Performance Workshop for Tech 4-6
Saturday, September 22 1:00-5:00pm
This workshop is called “ART workout”. This means that we will come together to explore new ways to create performances. Trying to get out of our usual patterns for making a dance, we will use our voices and imagination. We will improvise, write and practice directing the whole group. At the end of the workshop we will share what we make in a performance. Let’s work it out!
This workshop fee is $15, free for students enrolled in Composition (CKC) at Factory Street Studio. This workshop is a part of FSS’s Visiting Artists in Composition program partially funded through the Ohio Arts Council.
Community Dance Jam
Sunday, September 23 1:00-3:00pm Free! Join us for an afternoon of dance improvisation for all ages and all abilities! Facilitated by Factory Street Studio instructors.

Welcome Dancers and Families!
It is with great pleasure that I welcome old and new families alike to Factory Street Studio’s 35th Anniversary Year! We have an exciting year ahead of us that will be kicked off by our Fall Open House on Saturday, August 25 from 12-4pm that will feature free dance classes, registration materials for our Fall Semester, order forms for dance apparel through Revolution Dancewear, and snacks, food, refreshments, and friends (check out our website or Facebook page for more info)! We will keep you informed of upcoming 35th Anniversary events and workshops through regular DanceNews emails, Facebook and website updates, and in-studio fliers.
An exciting development has taken place at FSS…..new online registration! We are registered with DanceWorks Online, which will allow you to register and pay for classes using your internet connection. Since this is a new procedure for all of us, please do not hesitate to contact the office for help getting set up! To start, go to https://app.mydanceworks.net/customer/Login.aspx?parentid=ak600164j and create an account. Many families have already been entered in to the system, but if not, we can always take your paper registration and enter it for you. We hope that this addition will help the studio run more efficiently and be less hassle for you. If you don’t have internet service, don’t worry! We will still accept paper registrations.
We are also happy to announce that beginning this fall, FSS will be selling Revolution Dancewear to Athens families and dancers! No need to travel to Columbus for dancewear anymore; try on items at the studio and order dancewear through FSS at economical prices. Order forms will be available at the studio during our Open House and will be due no later than September 11.
We are proud to continue the growth of our programming to offer the most well rounded dance training in the Athens area. This year you will find expanded class times and additional technique offerings in various levels to provide each student with even more individual attention while strengthening the sense of community in our studio classrooms. Our returning families may notice an increase in tuition costs because of these expansions in programming and the ever-increasing costs of maintaining operations. Being the first tuition increase since 2007, the staff and Board of Directors at FSS did not make this decision lightly and made sure to increase fees only as was absolutely necessary. FSS will still offer discounts when families enroll in multiple classes and we encourage families to apply for scholarships and work-study positions (applications are included in this packet). Please do not hesitate to contact Amanda with any questions you may have about the new tuition increases as director@factorystreetstudio.org.
