September 2017 Newsletter

Hello Factory Street Community!

Our Fall semester has begun and has been a huge success!
Please read the following Newsletter to keep yourself informed of FSS news, announcements, and other important information for our community. As this is our first newsletter of the year, it’s a bit lengthy (but full of important stuff!). In the future, monthly newsletters should be shorter.
~ We have posted, on the front page of our website,, our annual calendar with dates & locations for both Winter and Spring concerts, make up classes, holidays, etc.
~ Also on our website, are our policies. Some of these are new, such as an injury & illness policy, and we request that you read them all so that you are informed.
~ While there is no specific policy regarding guests in the studio – we’d like to ask that you NOT invite guests/friends to “hang out” at the studio while you are in class.
~ September payments are due. You may pay at the studio using exact cash, check or credit card. You may pay on-line by setting up an account (“Pay Online” tab on our website).
~ Please keep noise to a minimum while you are in the studio. There are other classes happening and occasionally students working on homework.
~ Please arrive on time to each class. Warm-ups are considered part of the class and are mandatory. Students missing warmups may be asked to sit out to avoid injury. Additionally, please make sure students are picked up promptly after class. Chronic late pick up will result in a late fees being added to your account.
~  If you applied for a scholarship, information is coming soon.
~ Our Junior Senior Capstone class will resume it’s year-long snack sale soon. This class does it’s own fundraising to pay for a class trip at the end of the year where they travel and perform their own choreography.  This was hugely popular last year, so please send your dancer(s) with money for snacks that benefit a good cause! (All items are 50 cents.) While occasionally they will provide “treats” often snacks will be fruit, granola bars, pretzels, etc. If your dancer has a food allergy, please know that we do not always have a list of ingredients, so they should bring their own alternative snacks.
~ Do you shop at Kroger? If you have a Kroger Card, please consider setting your card’s community rewards points to go to Factory Street. They send us donations based on your cards use! Details on our website, in the studio, or at your local Kroger.
~ Do you have a dorm fridge that you are not using that works? We’d LOVE to use it! Often our students and staff bring food for after school and between classes but our old dorm fridge finally broke… so we are currently without one.
~ Please follow us on facebook. We often provide information there between monthly newsletters.
~ Factory Street is gearing up for a year long Celebration of our 40th Anniversary! We are looking for people who would like to join a one year long 40th committee to plan and organize several events and fundraisers throughout the year.. Please let me know if you are interested (
~ Lastly, we gotta do a little building improvement bragging. THANKS to the Athens County Foundation, we have been able to complete several improvement projects around the studio like a new roof, new gutters, and a new floor for our studio bathroom! We had the creepy old shed removed and the side of our building painted as well! During our Beautification Day, our wonderful FSS community came out to help improve the studio by painting the studio downstairs, removing old brush and debris from the yard, lots of cleaning and replacing the trick doorknob we’ve had on the front door for years! Stop by to check ’em out, or see our facebook page for photos.
Thanks to you all!!
